Need a second menu bar for Mac?
One of my pet annoyances with OS X is that it doesn’t allow for a second menu bar for dual monitors. It’s probably one of the things I miss most since moving from Windows. I use a Cintiq specifically for design so Adobe’s applications’ palets all need to be on one screen for easy access with the pen – this includes the menu bar. I have my iMac behind the Cintiq and this screen is great for coding, viewing the web and so on… But when I’m using an application on my iMac, I occasionally need to access the menu bar and it’s disorientating for my eye to move from the iMac down to the Cintiq to locate it.
I’ve put up with it until now, for today I discovered this neat tool called Second Bar. It comes courtesy of a guy called Andreas Hegenberg (Twitter: @boastr_net) and he has a number of nifty tools on his site. Despite a few warnings about it’s stability, I installed it today and so far it’s working just fine. You can download Second Bar here.
